The Feathered Friends
There’s something deeply calming about the gentle rhythm of life among the ducks and chickens. At RK Acres Sanctuary, they move through the day in a quiet chorus of clucks, quacks, and rustling feathers—soft sounds that bring a sense of stillness and joy to the farm.
Each bird has a personality—some bold and talkative, others shy and observant—but all of them share a simple contentment in their freedom to just be.They remind us that peace doesn’t have to be grand. Sometimes, it’s found in the smallest moments—a flutter of wings, a shared sunbeam, or the quiet companionship of a flock that knows it is safe, loved, and home.

Looney and Tooney

Looney and Tooney came to RK Acres Sanctuary as tiny chicks, surrendered by their previous owner who, thankfully, chose compassion and a safe future for them—something all too rare for chickens. From day one, these two have been inseparable, sharing every adventure side by side.

With personalities as big as their names are silly, Looney and Tooney keep us smiling with their curious antics and nonstop chatter. Whether they’re pecking through the grass for bugs (their absolute favorite pastime), sunbathing in sync, or plotting their next garden expedition, these two are always up to something.

They remind us daily how much individuality and joy chickens bring to the world when they’re simply given the chance to live freely and be loved. At RK Acres, Looney and Tooney are more than just chickens—they’re family.
Timmy, Jimmy, Prance
Though their names may suggest otherwise, Timmy, Jimmy, and Prance are three lovely ladies who’ve found true friendship—and peace—at RK Acres Sanctuary.

Each came from a different background: Timmy and Jimmy were both abandoned at parks (on separate occasions) in cities where ducks aren’t allowed. Prance, meanwhile, was passed from home to home until a kind-hearted vet stepped in and asked if we could offer her the safe, stable life she deserved. We’re so glad we said yes.

Despite their winding paths, these girls have formed a tight-knit trio. Jimmy and Prance are the social butterflies of the bunch, always curious and eager to waddle over for a hello. Timmy, on the other hand, is shy and reserved, finding more comfort among her fellow animals than in the spotlight of human attention—and that’s perfectly okay. Here, she gets to be exactly who she is.
