Meet the Animals

Henry.jpg

Henry

Our first official sanctuary member.  Steve received a phone call from a neighbor who asked if we could take a goat.  This goat was meant to be used for meat and while we weren't quite ready to take him, there were no other options for him.  On a whim, we joyfully (and, a bit nervously) said yes.  He had to stay in the garage for a little bit, but he was safe and loved.  Henry's favorite things to do are relax while the sun is out and follow Steve around.  Needless to say, Steve is Henry's favorite person.

Molly

Molly, aka Moll Doll, is one of the first horses to join us.  She is so incredibly sweet and enjoys human attention.  She is also the bossiest of the group, but everyone still likes her and enjoys being with her.

April Gretchen

April Gretchen is an incredibly affectionate pony who came to us on a whim.  We were beginning to stretch ourselves thin; however, an acquaintance of Tasha's reached out directly.  After discussing with Steve, Tasha decided to help this girl out.  Not a day goes by that we regret this decision.  April Gretchen adores human connection and is one of Tasha's favorites around the sanctuary.

River

River is our fifth horse who came to the sanctuary.  There were zero plans to take another horse; however, a close friend of Tasha's reached out and asked.  Poor River came to us as a very skinny girl, but has thrived with a healthy environment.  River is a Quarter Horse and registered with the American Quarter Horse Association (though that does not matter to us).  She is so incredibly sweet, loves to be pet, and enjoys the companionship of the other horses.

Looney and Tooney

Looney and Tooney came to us as babies from an owner surrender.  While we're so happy their previous owners chose a  compassionate future for them, we recognize this is not the norm for chickens.  These two have so much personality and are often found together.  Their favorite things to do is eat bugs.

Timmy, Jimmy, Prance

While Timmy, Jimmy, and Prance (front to back) all came in separately, they are the best of friends.  Timmy and Jimmy were abandoned at parks (separately) in cities where ducks are not allowed.  Prance was bounced from home to home (to home!) until a compassionate vet reached out to us to see if we could be her permanent home.  While Jimmy and Prance are quite social, Timmy is very shy and prefers other animals over people.  Despite their names, they are all girls.
